Germany: Yayoi Kusama exhibition breaks attendance record in Cologne

The Yayoi Kusama exhibition at Museum Ludwig in Cologne has become the most visited show in the museum's 50-year history, attracting nearly 470,000 visitors.

On its final days, the museum extended opening hours into the early morning to accommodate long queues of visitors eager to experience the Japanese artist's colourful installations and iconic Infinity Mirror Rooms.

The exhibition features around 300 works, ranging from Kusama's childhood drawings to her latest installations. It has surpassed the previous attendance record set by the Edward Hopper exhibition in 2004–2005.

Following its record-breaking run in Cologne, the exhibition will travel to the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, where it is scheduled to open in mid-September.
