In a bid to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion, the Gurugram traffic police have temporarily closed a key road cut on the stretch between Ghatta Power House and AIT Chowk on a trial basis.

According to a traffic advisory issued on Thursday, the cut near the Discovery liquor vend has been closed due to recurring traffic snarls in the area. Motorists can no longer take a right turn or make a U-turn at this point.

Traffic police officials said commuters travelling to residential societies and other destinations on the opposite side of the road should continue for about 100 metres and use the newly designated cut for right turns and U-turns.

The move aims to streamline traffic movement on one of the city’s busy corridors and reduce delays caused by vehicles slowing down or stopping at the existing median opening.

The police have urged commuters to cooperate with traffic personnel and follow the directional signboards installed along the route. Officials said the trial arrangement is expected to ease bottlenecks and improve travel time for motorists using the Ghatta Road–AIT Chowk stretch.

The traffic police said the impact of the new arrangement would be closely monitored and further decisions would be taken based on its effectiveness in improving traffic flow.

The advisory is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and reduce congestion on major traffic corridors across the city.
