To improve traffic flow and reduce congestion, the Gurugram traffic police have temporarily closed a key median cut between Ghatta Power House and AIT Chowk on a trial basis.

According to a traffic advisory issued Thursday, the cut in front of the Discovery liquor vend has been shut due to persistent traffic jams. Motorists will no longer be allowed to take a right turn or U-turn from this point.

Traffic officials said commuters heading to residential societies and other destinations on the opposite side should drive around 100 metres ahead and use the new designated cut for right turns and U-turns.

The move aims to streamline vehicular movement on one of the city’s busiest corridors. It will reduce delays caused by vehicles slowing down or stopping at the existing median opening.

Police have urged commuters to cooperate with on-duty personnel and follow directional signboards installed along the route. Officials said the trial arrangement should ease bottlenecks and save travel time for motorists on the Ghatta Road-AIT Chowk stretch.

The Gurugram traffic police said the effectiveness of the new arrangement will be monitored. Further decisions will be taken based on its impact on traffic flow.

The advisory is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to improve road safety and reduce congestion across major corridors in the city.
