Abdul Carter has spoken out about Jaxson Dart’s decision to attend a Donald Trump rally in New York, saying he disagrees with the move but wants the New York Giants to move forward.
The issue drew attention because Dart is not just any player. As the Giants’ young quarterback, his public actions are often seen as speaking for more than just himself.
Carter felt it was important to address the situation, framing his response around values and accountability inside the team.

Abdul Carter says Jaxson Dart represents more than himself with New York Giants
Speaking to ESPN, Carter explained that his concerns went beyond football, stating: “Some things are bigger than football, and this is one of those things. Jaxson is one of our leaders. He’s the face of our franchise.”
“He not only represents himself and what he does, but he represents all of us, and that goes for anybody who wears a Giants uniform,” Carter added.
Dart came under fire after attending a rally for Republican Congressman Mike Lawler, where he introduced Trump and used Giants references while speaking on stage.
The criticism was not only about Dart’s political leanings. It was also about how the Giants’ identity was brought into a partisan setting.
Abdul Carter says Donald Trump stance does not mean New York Giants have Jaxson Dart beef
Carter said he felt a responsibility to address Dart’s appearance publicly: “But if he chooses to align himself with a man like President Trump, it’s my responsibility based on what I believe and what I stand on, to not only show my teammates that I’m against that but to show the world.”
“And that doesn’t mean that we have to spread hate. It doesn’t mean that me and Jaxson hate each other or we have beef. … I just want to move past this,” the Giants star concluded.
That distinction is important. Carter was not trying to start a feud, but he also did not want his silence to be mistaken for agreement.
The Giants reportedly held internal conversations to prevent the disagreement from becoming a lasting distraction. Dart, meanwhile, faces the challenge of understanding how the quarterback role comes with added scrutiny, especially in New York.
Carter’s comments were pointed but measured. He explained why he disagreed with Dart’s actions and made it clear he wanted to move on before it affected the team further.
