A Giaspura resident was allegedly abducted by seven suspects, who took him to a factory and tortured him, said the police, adding the victim has been rescued.

A case was registered under Sections 140 (3), 127(2), 115 and 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the seven accused at the Sahnewal police station.

The victim, Parvesh Gupta, hails from Muzaffarpur in Uttar Pradesh and was residing at a rented accommodation in Giaspura. He alleged seven men abducted him from a petrol pump on Wednesday in a black car and took him to Karan Factory on Sua road, Giaspura. The factory is named after the prime suspect, Karan.

“The accused confined me to a room, thrashed me with sticks and hit me on the head. They threatened to kill me. They asked me to call my brother and demand Rs.1.5 to 2 lakh to secure my release,” the victim said.

“My brother contacted the police, who then rescued me. The kidnappers, however, managed to flee,” he added.

Parvesh alleged the accused manhandled him earlier as well. According to him, he had worked at Karan Factory for over 10 days but was not paid any salary, which was why he switched jobs.

The FIR names Karan Yadav, a resident of Pritam Colony, Giaspura, his associates Roni, Anil, Pramod and Rajiv, and two unidentified accused.

Investigating officer assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Karanjeet Singh said raids were being conducted to nab the accused. The victim is undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital.
