
Barangay Ginebra flipped the switch behind a fiery second quarter offensive to clobber Macau, 110-93, and get its title bid going in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup on Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
RJ Abarrientos and Justine Brownlee combined for 20 of Ginebra’s 39 points in the second period to speed off to a 63-43 halftime lead.
The Gin Kings never looked back.
Ginebra peppered Macau with 11 threes, had more assists, 23-16 while limiting the foreign guest squad to just 35.6 percent shooting.
Brownlee, the shortest import in the tournament, played big after finishing with 31 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
Abarrientos finished with do-it-all numbers of 25 points, six rebounds and seven assists.
Stephen Holt had 13 points, while Troy Rosario had 11 and nine rebounds.
Damian Chongqui led the Black Knights with 28 points, Jenning Leung 21, and Phoenix Shackelford 18.
Tony Mitchell had 14 and 12 rebounds for Macau, which fell to 0-3.
