Giovanni Pernice describes Strictly bullying furore as ‘personality clash’

  • Giovanni Pernice has said the BBC investigation into Amanda Abbington's allegations of bullying and harassment on Strictly Come Dancing was “the right thing to do”.
  • The broadcaster upheld six of the 16 allegations made by Abbington, while clearing Pernice of the 10 most serious accusations.
  • Pernice told GB News that that there was a “personality clash” between the pair and described experiencing “dark times” and isolation after leaving the flagship BBC show.
  • He said: “Some of the allegations were just not very important to uphold, but I guess they had to do it.”
  • A spokesperson for Abbington criticised Pernice's comments, pointing out that the BBC apologised to her and paid her substantial compensation following the investigation.
