The Patiala police have started a probe after the body of a girl was found in a blue drum near DCW. The body looks like that of a 16 to 20-year-old and was packed inside a drum left near garbage.

The police said that they have started a probe. Last year, the “Blue Drum” murder of a Merchant Navy officer, allegedly committed by his wife and her paramour, had made headlines.

On Monday evening, the body of a young woman in her twenties was found stuffed inside a blue drum beneath the overbridge near Patiala Locomotive Works area near the Rajpura-Sirhind road.

According to available information, a passerby informed the police after he noticed a human hand and smell emanating from the drum.

When police reached the spot, they recovered the body of the girl, who reportedly had a tattoo on her arm. Preliminary reports suggest that the victim may have been a migrant worker. Bruises were also found on her face, raising suspicion of foul play.
