GLOBE Telecom is expanding its digital and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to support Philippine businesses seeking growth opportunities in Southeast Asia. The move came following the conclusion of negotiations for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Digital Economy Framework Agreement in May 2026. The agreement is seen to facilitate cross-border digital trade, data flows, electronic payments, personal data protection, cybersecurity cooperation and the adoption of emerging technologies.
Globe President and CEO Carl Cruz said the company aimed to support Philippine enterprises seeking to enter regional markets and companies from Asean and other markets looking to establish or expand their operations in the Philippines.
“A more connected Asean opens a bigger market for Philippine businesses. Globe can help them get there by providing the connectivity and digital capabilities they need to grow, while also helping companies from across the region establish and expand their presence in the Philippines,” Cruz said.
Globe said that businesses expanding across Asean will need reliable connectivity, digital infrastructure and technology partners while companies entering the Philippines will require similar capabilities to establish and scale their operations.
To meet these requirements, Cruz said the telecommunications company is strengthening its enterprise portfolio across connectivity, cloud, cybersecurity, data and AI.
It is also working with regional operators, global technology companies and startups to provide businesses with access to technologies and expertise beyond the Philippine market, the Globe chief executive said.
The company, he said, allocated P26.3 billion in capital expenditures in the first half of 2026, with about 91 percent directed toward data-related initiatives to expand network capacity and improve service quality.
Enterprise demand has also been growing, with Corporate Data revenues reaching a record P11 billion in the first half, up 15 percent from the same period last year, he stressed.
Cruz said Globe is also increasing its use of AI as part of its broader digital transformation.
The company, he explained, has more than 260 AI use cases being applied or developed across the organization, covering areas such as hyper-personalization, customer experience, intelligent networks, and new products and services.
Globe is also modernizing its transport network, expanding fiber infrastructure and improving network resiliency to support increasing demand from AI applications, cloud platforms and connected devices.
Cruz said these investments could enable businesses to use AI and other emerging technologies to improve operations, enhance customer service and develop new products and services.
