GLOBE Telecom Inc. on Sunday said it posted its strongest network performance so far this year in August, with its overall score and average download speed reaching 2026 highs based on data from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
The telecommunications company recorded an overall score of 81.5, up 4.4 points from January, while its average download speed rose to 45.9 megabits per second (Mbps), based on the latest DICT Telco Report Card.
The August download speed was 5.1 percent faster than July and 26 percent higher than the 36.5 Mbps recorded at the start of the year.
Network quality also improved, with Globe’s score rising to 71.2 from 69.2, while latency remained at 20 milliseconds.
The statement came as the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) issued a show-cause order against Globe and three other telcos for allegedly poor mobile broadband services, a claim that Globe Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer Yoly Crisanto has denied.
Globe General Counsel Froilan Castelo said the company’s network investments were aimed at improving reliability, particularly during periods of high demand, disruptions and emergencies.
“Customers need a network they can depend on every day, and that goes beyond speed. It means being able to stay connected consistently, including during periods of high demand, disruptions and emergencies,” he said.
Globe said that it had spent P26.3 billion in capital expenditures in the first half of 2026, with 91 percent allocated to data-related initiatives, the company said.
The company also said that it was deploying automated network technologies to improve resilience during outages. Its Automated Outage Response technology can retain up to 50 percent of data connectivity during outages by automatically optimizing nearby cell sites, compared with less than 10 percent without the technology, Globe claimed.
Globe said it was also expanding connectivity in underserved areas, having brought mobile services to 52 previously unserved geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas in July.
The expansion completed the company’s commitment to activate services across all 180 project locations under the DICT connectivity initiative.
Globe said it has also been recognized as the Most Consistent Mobile Provider for four consecutive periods, based on Ookla Speedtest Intelligence data covering the second half of 2024 through the first half of 2026.
Globe Telecom shares on Friday closed up P18.00, or 1.17 percent, at P1,550 each.
