SEN. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Wednesday sponsored a Senate resolution congratulating and commending the Philippine delegation to the 13th Asean Para Games for delivering the country’s best performance in the regional sporting event for athletes with disabilities.
Speaking during the plenary session on Jan. 28, Go lauded Team Philippines for its historic 134-medal haul made up of 45 golds, 37 silvers, and 52 bronzes, which propelled the country to a fourth-place overall finish, its strongest showing since joining the biennial games.
“As chairperson of the Committee on Sports, it is with great pride and honor that I sponsor a Senate resolution honoring the Philippine delegation who competed and showed exemplary performance in the 13th Asean Para Games held in Thailand,” Go said in his sponsorship speech.
The Para Games, hosted this year by Thailand, brought together para athletes from Southeast Asia to compete in multiple sporting disciplines.
“These remarkable achievements reflect not only athletic excellence but also the depth, resilience, and fighting spirit of para athletes across various sporting disciplines,” Go said.
He also recognized the contributions of coaches, trainers, sports officials, and support staff, as well as the role of government agencies and sports organizations in providing training, financial assistance, and welfare support to para athletes.
