SEN. Christopher "Bong" Go urged mechanical engineers to continue pursuing innovation and national progress as he joined the 4th Davao Regional Conference of the Pambansang Samahan ng Inhenyero Mekanikal (PSIM) in Davao City.
In his speech, Go cited mechanical engineers' vital role in infrastructure, manufacturing, and technology, while pushing for legislative support to modernize their profession.
“Mechanical engineers play an important role in our country's development. Your knowledge and expertise contribute to manufacturing, energy, transportation, infrastructure, technology, and many other industries that Filipinos rely on every day,” he said.
The senator also emphasized that professionals must adapt as technology advances rapidly.
The gathering brought together around 500 delegates, including Professional Mechanical Engineers, Registered Mechanical Engineers, Certified Plant Mechanics, industry leaders, technical professionals, exhibitors, students, and other stakeholders from the Davao Region, Mindanao, and various parts of the country. Go acknowledged PSIM Davao Chapter President Concordio Libut Jr.; Executive Vice President Arnold Jimeno; Internal Vice President Norvin Pajo; External Vice President Vincent Gono; Vice President for Technical Affairs Roel Abao; Secretary Engr. Edgar Karlo Pascual; Treasurer Julius Matunding and Auditor Richard Concha.
He also recognized PSIM National President Nestor de Jesus Jr., National Executive Vice President Rex Dominguez, as well as the organization’s officers, members, industry partners, and other guests.
The senator said that by applying their knowledge and skills in their respective fields, mechanical engineers contribute not only to economic and technological progress but also to the broader effort of nation-building.
"As I always say, my passion is serving others. And in your own way, you are also serving our fellow Filipinos through the work that you do," Go added.
