The General Operations Force proposes demolishing 65 illegal stores along Sungai Golok to curb smuggling, following operations that netted RM11.3 million in seizures.

TUMPAT: The General Operations Force has proposed the demolition of 65 illegal stores constructed along the banks of Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas.

GOF Southeast Brigade Commander SAC Ahmad Radzi Hussain said the matter has been discussed with the National Security Council.

He stated that the local authority has the power to demolish the storage buildings, which were built without district council approval.

“This helps to curb smuggling activities concealed behind such premises,” he told reporters at the GOF Tactical Headquarters in Pengkalan Kubor.

He requested that the local authority take action to demolish these illegal structures to prevent their continued use for unlawful activities.

Meanwhile, he said Ops Taring Wawasan Kelantan, carried out by the GOF 7th Battalion, recently recorded 171 cases with seizures amounting to RM11.3 million.

The operation led to the arrest of 136 individuals in connection with smuggling activities.

A total of 94 vehicles were seized, and 37 undocumented migrants were also detained.

Those detained comprised 30 Myanmar nationals and six Indonesians.
