Now more than ever, people are abstaining from alcohol, a trend even among Gen Z. And it goes beyond Dry January. That said, a city like Hong Kong is sprawling with bars, and the drinking culture is still very much alive. But we get it if you feel left out at after-work drinks where everyone else is sipping a tipple. Fret not! You can suggest these bars and restaurants in Hong Kong that serve the best mocktails, so you don’t have to resort to Coke Zero.

So, why are mocktails becoming such a big deal? For a lot of Gen Z, alcohol just isn’t exciting anymore. They are perfectly happy having fun without it. This wellness-focused generation also cares about health, so non-alcoholic options make total sense. Even those who used to down shots in their twenties often find that their tastes and tolerance have changed. Inclusive socialising is here to stay. And a friendly reminder: don’t pressure anyone into drinking. If someone wants a mocktail, that’s their choice, and that’s totally fine.

Hong Kong’s mocktail scene is rapidly evolving to meet a growing demand for sophisticated non-alcoholic options. Bars like Mostly Harmless lead the way, proving that zero-proof drinks require serious mixology skills. These creations are complex, balanced, and beautifully presented, offering a fulfilling experience beyond mere juice. And the best part? No need to worry about a nasty hangover! Whether you like your mocktails tea-based, fruity, or earthy with unconventional ingredients, you will find something suitable for your palate at these bars and restaurants. For inclusive gatherings where everyone can enjoy a crafted drink, the city’s best bars now deliver exceptional mocktails. Cheers!

Ranked #88 in Asia, this farm-to-glass bar, helmed by industry veteran Ezra Star, serves only exceptional mocktails. Focusing on simple, locally sourced ingredients, the drinks are masterfully crafted and utterly addictive. The intimate, white-tiled space fosters genuine connection, with guest names and the daily menu handwritten on the walls. Staying true to its craft while prioritising personal touches, this unique spot offers a vibe you will want to return to again (and again).

The menu here is always rotating, and the drinks are scribbled on the tiles so there’s no strict “menu” so to say.

If you haven’t dropped by The Doctor’s Residence yet, now you have all the more reasons to. The team just launched an all-new 0% ABV drinks menu, named The Placebo Effect. Curated by Bar Manager Babit Buratho, the guilt-free low-sugar placebo prescriptions will still get you prepped for the dance floor, whether it’s a bold tonic or a sunset aperitivo. If you’d like to sample non-alcoholic spirits, try the Serotonin Boost with Siegfried Wonderleaf 0% Gin and Crossip Dandy Smoke.

If you’re over at The Aubrey, it goes without saying that they’re masters in mixology. The award-winning bar has unveiled its new cocktail menu, The Art of Shibumi which is built on the Japanese philosophy of “shibumi” which is the idea that what appears minimal at first often reveals the most meaning over time. It’s split into four sections, depending on craft and technique and the Balanced section offers patrons alcohol-free recreations of one cocktail from each of the other sections.

Another one from Antonio Lai because the man knows what he’s doing and he’s great at it. Hong Kong’s multi-sensory cocktail bar that’s won multiple awards is a must-visit whether you’re a tourist or a local. And if you’re refraining from alcohol, you don’t have to miss out. The spacious bar has plenty of drinks and nibbles to choose from and you can easily spend a whole evening here with friends. Look to Manifesto, the spirit-free menu with four punchy mocktails. You’ll find all four of them to be on the refreshing and tropical side, meaning they’re highly addictive.

If you’re looking for sundowners on the Eastern side, look no further than Cruise Restaurant & Bar. The rooftop terrace is great for both intimate dates and gathering with friends. If you’re looking to stay sober, the “I’m Driving” series features three mocktails to quench your thirst. One of it is an even healthier alternative to cocktails, with whey protein, honey, and ginger.
