The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Bathinda have registered a zero FIR after a local businessman alleged that his bag containing gold ornaments worth about Rs 3 crore was stolen during a recent train journey.

According to the complaint, Narinder Singh, a resident of Mata Jivi Nagar in Bathinda, was carrying gold ornaments on June 10 when the bag reportedly went missing.

Singh told the police that he briefly got down from the train at Jakhal railway station to drink water and later discovered that the bag was missing.

A GRP official said the complainant was engaged in supplying gold ornaments to local jewellers and had been transporting the valuables at the time of the incident.

Following the registration of the zero FIR, the case has been transferred to the Hisar GRP for further investigation, as the alleged theft is believed to have occurred within their jurisdiction.
