Tuaran: Golden Express is the horse to beat in Race 5 (Class 5) over 1,100m on the sand track at the Royal Sabah Turf Club this Sunday.
Prepared by the Lu brothers from Sandakan, Golden Express is the early favourite despite facing 10 rivals. Magic Blinks, Moana, Aqis and Dita are expected to provide the main challenge.
Race 4 (Class 5) over 1,100m is shaping up as a three-way contest between Apin Apin Prince, Diva Be the One and Bandau. Front-runner Apin Apin Prince is likely to face early pressure from the speedy Bandau, while Diva Be the One will be hoping to finish strongly. Gold Dream and Billie Jean are also among the leading chances.
At the Selangor Turf Club, Sabah Win lines up in Race 2 (Class 5) over 1,400m against nine rivals. Although facing a strong and experienced field, Sabah Win will be looking to regain confidence.
Pahlawan is the favourite from Barrier 1, while Sirius, Ganbatte and Star Express are expected to be in contention.
Race 5, a 1,200m Special Maiden for three- and four-year-olds, looks wide open with seven debutants and three lightly raced runners.
King Odds is the favourite after eight starts, while Ipoh Star, Capet Regent, Lord Titanium and Master Treasure are among the other leading prospects.
