A Malaysian man shared on Threads that his family had gone on a short holiday for three days and two nights without informing their neighbours.
While they were away, several parcels were delivered and left near the fence outside their home.
What the CCTV showed
The family only found out what happened after checking their CCTV footage. The footage showed their neighbours walking over to the house multiple times, collecting the parcels that had been left at the fence and stone pillar, and bringing them back to their own homes for safekeeping. Nobody had asked them to. Nobody had even told them the family would not be around.
His own explanation
The man said he had no idea his neighbours had done this until he reviewed the footage.
He joked in his post that perhaps they had noticed the house was unusually dark and quiet.
“Maybe they noticed that the house was dark and quiet, because it’s usually lively with Dhia’s voice,” he wrote.
“Getting good neighbours is also a blessing. Alhamdulillah,” he added.
Good Neighbours Don’t Need A Reason
The post drew warm responses from Malaysians online, with many sharing their own stories of neighbourly kindness across racial lines.
What made the gesture mean even more was that they are the only Malay family in the area.
