Google has officially launched the YouTube Creators for Impact programme in Malaysia, which brings together local creators to champion for better online safety and empower parents through educational content.
According to Google, this is part of YouTube’s long-standing commitment to creating a safer and more responsible online ecosystem. The tech giant highlights that 72% of parents in Malaysia are using digital safety and educational tools with their child, and that the YouTube Creators for Impact programme will continue this trajectory as they work with local creators to better spotlight these tools.
Google is calling them their Lighthouse Creators, a group of six Malaysian creators and influencers that Google says has been chosen due to their credibility, positive influence and ability to spark conversations. These creators include Im_siowei, JE Pong, A Lad and a Dad, Aqil Zulkiflee, FU LOVE and Fourfeetnine.
“Building a secure and resilient digital ecosystem is a core national priority, but achieving a truly safe online space requires a shared commitment between the government, industry leaders and communities.

The YouTube Creators for Impact programme will have these creators, over the next two months, collaborate with industry experts in workshops to gain insights towards online safety issues, especially those surrounding parental controls and youth wellbeing. The creators will then produce content focused on smart guardrails, digital wellness and purposeful tech.
