The S1 LM is one of two new cars from a newly minted company – GMSV (Gordon Murray Special Vehicles). Unveiled at the Monterey Car Week, which is the premier gathering for automotive enthusiasts, collectors, brands, and industry experts.

The GMA S1 LM is from Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA). It’s a bespoke commission, with all five units being built for a single customer. The S1 LM is inspired by the first McLaren F1 GTR that won the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1995, but without the long-tail design. The S1 LM is based on the T.50S platform.

This S1 LM is a track car first with a new, stiffer suspension and a solidly mounted engine. The large rear splitter is paired with that wing and a large diffuser and it promises proper useable downforce.

Like all GMA road cars, the S1 LM will have a naturally aspirated V-12 mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. This V12 has a 4.3 liter internals, with ta power output of over 690 horsepower.

Its profile features a newly lowered roofline and every surface is completely new, made from ultra-lightweight carbon fibre body panels. The aero package is specific to S1 LM, with a front splitter, rear diffuser, and dual element rear wing that together deliver significant downforce and stability. At both ends, Le Mans-inspired lights feature precision-engineered housings that flow seamlessly with the LM’s sculpted bodywork.

Building on the Gordon Murray belief that the engine is the heart of the car and represents at least half of the experience, the S1 LM places its masterpiece at the very centre. The removal of the rear fan and oil cooling pack frees space to house a unique and exclusive 4.3-litre V12, producing over 700 PS – paired with a bespoke Inconel exhaust system, wrapped in 18-karat gold-foiled heat shielding.

Capable of revving to 12,100 rpm, the V12 delivers a distinctive harmony through its four centrally mounted exhausts, inspired by the 1995 Le Mans-winning legend.

The manual gearbox was developed using the T.50s casing with T.50 internals and optimised linkage and set-up to deliver short rifle-bolt throws. Suspension is bespoke, with new geometry, a lower ride height, and unique damper settings to deliver a sharp and highly connected driving experience. The innovative solid-mounted engine enables the purest expression of transient handling while minimising unwanted noise and vibration.

The interior explores new light-weighting concepts, utilises the finest materials, and showcases bespoke craftsmanship at every touchpoint, delivering precision that embodies its motorsports pedigree.
