KENINGAU: The State Government’s concern for rural communities was reflected in the gazettement of two new villages in the Bingkor constituency.
Bingkor Assemblyman Datuk Robert Tawik @ Nordin said the gazettement of both Kampung Ria Atas and Kampung Kapayan Lama Apin-Apin would open more opportunities for basic infrastructure development while improving the welfare and wellbeing of residents.
“I hope the people of both villages will make the most of this gazettement,” he said in a speech delivered by Bingkor Community Development Leader (PPM) Junior Fred Vincent during the Village Gazettement Handover Ceremony in Kampung Ria Atas.
Robert, who is also Assistant Works Minister, called on the villagers to remain united, preserve harmony and set an example for other areas in terms of development and consensus.
Meanwhile, Bingkor District Chief OKK Daniel Palangi also urged Kampung Ria Atas residents to work together and avoid division in order to strengthen neighbourhood ties.
He thanked leaders who made the gazettement possible, especially Deputy Chief Minister I cum State Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister and Keningau MP Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, as well as Robert, and acknowledged Andrew Badsut’s efforts in managing the process.
The event was attended by community leaders from Bingkor.
