Kota Kinabalu: Government-linked companies (GLCs) in the State are encouraged to channel contributions to Yayasan Kebajikan Sabah (YKS) to help those in need, especially when facing natural disasters.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said this aligns with the corporate social responsibility (CSR) of companies in assisting the State Government to strengthen the welfare agenda for the people.
He cited the RM1 million contribution by Sawit Kinabalu Group to YKS as a commendable action that should be emulated by other GLCs.
“Today, Sawit Kinabalu is carrying out CSR by channelling a contribution of RM1 million to YKS, which will greatly assist the Foundation in helping the poor or those affected by natural disasters,” he said after attending Sawit Kinabalu’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House, here.
Also present were Sawit Kinabalu Managing Director cum Chief Executive Officer Datuk Victor Ationg and YKS Director Datuk Diyana Abdullah.
Hajiji, who is also Sawit Kinabalu Chairman, said the concern shown by this GLC should serve as an example for other GLCs operating in Sabah. “I hope more GLCs can contribute,” he said.
Victor said the contribution reflects the company’s commitment and concern in supporting welfare initiatives for the underprivileged and those with special needs across the State through YKS.
“Sawit Kinabalu will continue to implement sustainable CSR initiatives covering various districts across the State, focusing on welfare, education, health and overall community development,” he said.
