Government urged to find solution to Segama flood problem

LAHAD DATU: Segama Assemblyman Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi requested the Government to find the best solution to address the flood problem in Sabah, including in Segama.

He said he had raised the flooding issue in Segama several times in the State Assembly but no solution has been implemented yet.

“It’s not the first time several villages in Segama have been hit by floods. This time is among the worst ever experienced.

Mohamaddin said his team monitored the situation while delivering house-to-house aid to flood victims in Segama and found many homes affected by disaster.

“A long-term solution needs to be found to address this flood problem holistically so it no longer burdens the people.

On Jan 29, several villages in the Segama area were hit by floods, affecting more than 500 residents.

Two Temporary Evacuation Centres (PPS) were opened at AVTC Segama and Lahad Datu Vocational College to accommodate flood victims.

Mohamaddin, through the Segama Adun Office, entered flood-affected villages to deliver aid to residents who couldn’t leave due to flooding and also sent assistance to the evacuation centres to help victims.
