The government on Wednesday dismissed social media claims that Union ministers Kiren Rijiju and Arjun Ram Meghwal were in London and had participated in a badminton event there alongside judges.
In a post on X, the Ministry of Minority Affairs termed the claim “fake” and clarified that neither minister was on a visit to London.
“Various social media posts are claiming that Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs KirenRijiju and Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal are on a visit to London and participating in a badminton event with judges. Yhis claim is fake,” the ministry said.
The ministry categorically denied that the ministers were on a visit to London.
“The viral photos are not from London. These photos were taken during a badminton event held in November 2025 at Thyagaraj Stadium in New Delhi,” it added.
It further clarified that the photographs being circulated on social media were being misrepresented.
PIB Fact Check urged citizens to avoid sharing misleading or unverified information and advised them to rely on official sources for authentic updates. It also encouraged people to report suspicious photos, videos, or messages related to the Central government for verification.
To support its clarification, PIB Fact Check shared a social media post by Kiren Rijiju dated November 29, 2025.
In the post, the minister had shared photographs from the All India Judges’ Badminton Championship held at Thyagaraj Stadium in New Delhi.
Rijiju wrote: “Had a wonderful time participating in the All India Judges’ Badminton Championship 2025 at Thyagaraj Stadium, New Delhi. Sharing the court with Hon’ble CJI, Justice Surya Kant ji; Justice Vikram Nath ji; MoS Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal ji and many esteemed judges was both memorable and energising.”
