KUALA LUMPUR – A further increase in the quota for full-time e-hailing drivers under the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) initiative will be announced soon, revealed Treasury Secretary-General Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican.

The upcoming revision is based on feedback from e-hailing drivers and fuel usage data provided by service providers to the government.

“The government, along with the Transport Ministry, has held discussions with e-hailing companies to assess the adequacy of the RON95 petrol subsidy eligibility for drivers. There has been an agreement in principle to enhance the current support,” Johan explained, as quoted by Bernama.

He added that the improvements would be revealed shortly, with the new measures taking effect in November.

Earlier, on October 13, the government increased the BUDI95 eligibility ceiling for full-time e-hailing drivers from 300 litres to 600 litres per month, benefiting almost 58,000 drivers.

In a separate statement, Johan also addressed calls from certain groups for more drastic actions to reduce the national fiscal deficit. He emphasised that the government's strategy remains focused on balancing fiscal responsibility with providing necessary economic support.

“The economic outlook for next year is expected to moderate compared to this year. Hence, the government sees it crucial to continue strengthening the fiscal position while ensuring adequate support for economic activities,” he added. - November 3, 2025
