MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) on Sunday said it would pursue the stalled urban housing projects started under president Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino III.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling said that about 5,000 families would stand to benefit from the new housing modality under the expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) program.
He directed the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) to pursue the stalled urban housing projects. Initially, the SHFC identified three stalled vertical housing projects (VHPs) in Caloocan City to be improved under 4PH -- the Alyansang Mamamayan ng Caloocan Housing Cooperative and Hopeville Phase 2 Homeowners Association Inc., both in Bagumbong; and the Genesis Ville HOA Inc. in Camarin.
The stalled projects were approved during Aquino’s time targeting mostly informal settler families as beneficiaries.
The three projects are composed of 35 low-rise buildings, which were not fully completed, the DHSUD said.
The SHFC will improve the sites with open spaces and facilities, the housing department said.
