The Delhi Government will launch a special five-day service and rescue campaign across all 13 districts of the national capital from May 11 to May 15 to identify, rescue and rehabilitate needy, helpless and destitute individuals living on the streets.

The campaign will be conducted under the aegis of the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Delhi; and Apna Ghar Ashram and Seva Bharti Delhi Prant.

Addressing a press conference at Apna Ghar Ashram in Pooth Khurd, Delhi, Minister for Social Welfare & SC/ST/OBC Welfare, Ravinder Indraj Singh, said the initiative aims to provide timely care, treatment and rehabilitation to vulnerable people in need of immediate support.

Under the campaign, rescued individuals will be brought to Apna Ghar Ashrams, where arrangements have been made for their medical treatment, shelter, care and rehabilitation. A total of 19 vehicles will be deployed across Delhi for the rescue operation, and authorities estimate that assistance will be extended to more than 300 people during the drive.

Speaking at the event, Ravinder Indraj Singh said, “One Window System” has been established for the successful execution of this campaign, in which the Department of Social Welfare will play a key role. The Delhi Government will ensure complete support and coordination throughout the campaign.

Highlighting the humanitarian aspect of the initiative, the minister said, “Service to humanity is the greatest religion. Serving neglected and destitute individuals is equivalent to serving God. In Indian culture, ‘Service to mankind is service to God,’ and Apna Ghar Ashram is working with this very spirit.”

He also praised the contribution of Apna Ghar Ashram in helping vulnerable individuals recover and reconnect with their families.

“Questions are sometimes raised in society regarding such institutions, but anyone who visits Apna Ghar Ashram and witnesses its spirit of service will truly experience the meaning of humanity,” the minister said.

He added that several social organisations, including Seva Bharti, are actively participating in the campaign and appealed to media representatives and citizens to support the initiative
