Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s government technology (GovTech) agenda must prioritise citizen experience and proactive service delivery to make government services easier, faster and more user-friendly, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
He said technology should be used to deliver government services directly to the people instead of making them navigate burdensome bureaucracy, while changes in attitude and mindset among civil servants were also needed.
Hajiji said digital transformation was crucial to improving the ease of doing business, attracting investment and advancing Sabah’s economy.
He said data and system integration between Federal and State agencies was necessary to provide faster, simpler and more transparent services, particularly to narrow socioeconomic gaps and benefit rural and interior communities.
Hajiji also stressed the need for strong cybersecurity safeguards, including protection of citizens’ personal data, amid growing dependence on the digital ecosystem.
