KUALA LUMPUR – Grab Malaysia has officially launched its Kampus Rakan Grab (KRG) hubs, marking a pivotal shift in its approach towards partner support.

Moving beyond providing earning opportunities, Grab is now committed to fostering the holistic growth of its partners. The revamped Grab Driver Centres, starting with the Petaling Jaya location, will serve as dedicated economic empowerment hubs.

These spaces aim to equip driver-, delivery-, and merchant-partners with the necessary skills and digital confidence to succeed in a rapidly changing economy.

“We have always regarded our partners as the backbone of our journey,” said Grab Malaysia Managing Director Adelene Foo said.

“As the economy transforms, our role must evolve from being a platform for earning to becoming a dedicated partner for their long-term growth. Kampus Rakan Grab is our way of responding to our partners' aspirations. We are humbled to play a part in their growth, and we envision this hub as a space for upskilling, networking, and building the resilience needed to succeed both within and beyond the Grab ecosystem.”

The launch event was officiated by Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan, Minister of Human Resources, who praised Grab’s commitment to the gig economy.

“The launch of Kampus Rakan Grab affirms a meaningful commitment to Malaysia’s gig economy."

By moving beyond immediate earnings to focus on long-term social protection and upskilling, Grab is aligning with the Ministry’s goal of ensuring a future-ready workforce."

I am also pleased to highlight that, continuing a commitment started in 2020, Grab Malaysia will be increasing its investment to subsidise PERKESO contributions for its active driver- and delivery-partners under Skim Keselamatan Sosial Pekerjaan Sendiri (Lindung Kendiri), ensuring the immediate safety of its partners."

Furthermore, Grab Malaysia will collaborate with the Ministry to make upskilling programs accessible through the Perbadanan Tabung Pembangunan Kemahiran (PTPK), empowering its partners with skills needed for long-term success.”

The Kampus Rakan Grab initiative is founded on three key principles that aim to support Grab's partners in their pursuit of economic empowerment. First, the hubs will continue to be the physical home of GrabAcademy, which has already benefited over 40,000 partners through upskilling programmes.

These programmes are designed to help partners stay relevant in a fast-paced digital economy, with a focus on developing both digital and financial skills. They also provide exposure to new tools and technologies, including artificial intelligence.

Grab has also partnered with institutions like CARSOME Academy, GIATMARA, and Saito University College, offering certification pathways that extend beyond the platform.

Second, the hubs are built to foster an inclusive and supportive community. KRG is designed to be both PWD-friendly and family-friendly. It includes dedicated assistance booths where deaf partners can communicate directly with staff, ensuring equal access for all.

Understanding the needs of working parents, the hub features a play area for children, allowing parents to balance their professional and family responsibilities.

The KRG hubs will also host regular networking events and festive celebrations to create a strong sense of community and mutual support among partners.

Finally, KRG aims to simplify the path to economic growth for its partners by consolidating essential services under one roof. Partners will have access to a one-stop support centre where they can resolve complex issues and manage onboarding, making it easier for both driver- and delivery-partners and merchant-partners to navigate their respective roles.

The hub also offers direct access to Grab’s wider ecosystem, including digital banking through GXBank, financial solutions via GFin, and essential goods from Jaya Grocer.

Furthermore, third-party vendors, such as insurance providers, will be on-site to offer face-to-face consultations, making financial planning more accessible.

The Kampus Rakan Grab initiative is an evolution of Grab’s GrabBenefits programme, which saw a RM10 million increase in investment in 2025. It also builds on the RM5 million investment made alongside the government’s Sejahtera MADANI fund launched last year.

Through these investments, Grab continues to focus on economic empowerment, creating new earning opportunities, and enhancing the career potential of its partners. This commitment is in line with national efforts to drive inclusive growth, uplift socio-economic standards, and eradicate poverty. - January 26, 2026
