BANGKOK: National hammer throw star Grace Wong Xiu Mei delivered a dominant performance to win gold at the SEA Games Thailand 2025.

Competing at the Suphachalasai Stadium, she broke the Games record four consecutive times during the event.

Grace opened with a throw of 63.34 metres, immediately surpassing her own previous Games record of 61.87m set in 2023.

Her second attempt of 63.83m then broke the newly-set Games record and also eclipsed her national record of 63.53m.

She extended the record further with a third-round throw of 65.09m.

Grace sealed her victory with a final record-breaking effort of 65.41m in her fourth attempt.

Her final two throws measured 64.01m and 64.42m, capping a remarkable series.

The performance delivered the first athletics gold medal for Malaysia at these Games.

Thailand’s Koomphon Mingkamon took silver with 60.74m, while Kaewasuksri Sawitree claimed bronze with 56.27m.

This victory marks Grace Wong’s fourth SEA Games hammer throw gold medal. – Bernama
