"The ruling on the suspect's body is a sign of hatred towards what the suspect has done, killing people who swore to protect the country, that did no wrong or any wrong against the suspect," said the Johor State Fatwa Committee.
Last Friday, the Johor State Fatwa Committee held a special meeting under the direction of Johor's Mufti, Datuk Yahya Ahmad.
Reported by Buletin TV3 , this led to the decision that the suspect who attacked the Ulu Tiram Police Station and killed two police officers will have his grave located away from the graves of other citizens.
The purpose of the meeting was to examine the policemen's death status and the manner of burial for the suspect who was shot dead, during the early Friday morning attack at the Ulu Tiram Police Station.
In a statement released today, the Johor State Fatwa Committee expressed their ruling that the suspect's grave being spaced apart from other graves, is to serve as a warning and reminder to the community not to become engaged or follow in his footsteps.
The body of the suspect is also not allowed to be taken to any mosque or surau for burial.
Three people were confirmed killed in the incident that occurred at 2.54 in the morning, last Friday. The victims included the 21-year-old suspect and two policemen, ages 22 and 24, respectively. Another member of the security force was gravely hurt.
Constable Ahmad Azza Fahmi Azhar, 22, and Constable Muhamad Syafiq Ahmad Said, 24, sadly died in the incident and have now been declared martyrs. Funeral and burial processions have taken place with the help of the police force ensuring safety and control.
