SIBU: Sibu Hospital paid tribute to Madam SK, a 55-year-old teacher who became its first solid organ donor since 2019.
The hospital said in a Facebook post that Madam SK donated both kidneys and her corneas, helping save lives and restore the vision of recipients.
According to Borneo Post, Sibu Hospital director Dr Nanthakumar Thirunavukkarasu said the donation was the hospital’s fourth, following a liver and kidney donation in 2019 and cornea tissue donations in 2017 and 2022.
The organs were transported to the Klang Valley for waiting recipients, with medical teams and support agencies involved in the process.
The hospital also thanked Madam SK’s family for agreeing to the donation and paid tribute to them during a walk of respect as she was taken to the operating room.
