RANAU: A grocery shop and café near the Nunuk Ragang monument in Kampung Balisok were completely destroyed in a fire on Thursdsay night, though no injuries were reported.
The Fire and Rescue Department received the emergency call at 8.02pm and deployed seven personnel, who arrived after travelling 53 kilometres and brought the blaze under control within minutes using water from a fire engine and a nearby hydrant.
The operation, which involved assistance from police and Sabah Electricity staff, was fully concluded at 11.23pm after firefighters confirmed the area was safe.
