‘Grow Sacha Inchi due to rising demand’ advice

BELURAN: Sabah State Assistant Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Datuk James Ratib, advised residents to intensify efforts to plant Sacha Inchi on their land due to the high prices in the domestic and foreign markets.

He said the Sacha Inchi plant or its scientific name ‘Plukenitia Volubilis’ is a type of plant that is easy to care for and can thrive on any type of soil just like growing leguminous vegetables in addition to being cheap.

“The tree will start producing fruit after four months and can be harvested as early as eight months and last up to 30 years.
