TONGOD: Four major political parties under the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition in Kuamut have completed their final preparations ahead of the 17th State Election (PRN-17).
The coalition, comprising Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat), Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Parti Solidariti Tanahairku (Star), and Usno, has mobilised its full election machinery with the aim of defending GRS’s dominance in the constituency.
GRS Kuamut Chairman Datuk Masiung Banah said the coalition is ready to face challenges posed by rival parties, with strong determination to retain the Kuamut seat with an even bigger majority.
“Our mission is to defend the GRS seat and secure a convincing victory in Kuamut for PRN-17. Preparations have not only relied on reports from the Secretariat War Room, but also consistent groundwork carried out over the past year,” said Masiung, who is also Kuamut Assemblyman and Gagasan Rakyat Vice-President.
He added that their readiness was further strengthened after attending a briefing for polling and counting agents at Dewan Simpang Entilibon yesterday.
The briefing was also attended by Gagasan Rakyat Sabah Secretariat Director Datuk Abdul Kassim Razali, who led a delegation of trainers and speakers from Kota Kinabalu.
Masiung said GRS Kuamut had been actively working on the ground across the constituency for the past three years, with a joint committee formed in every Polling District Centre (PDM) to ensure smooth campaign preparations.
Also present at the briefing were Kuamut GRS divisional leaders — Mandik Yadam (Star), James Aik (Usno), and Dusin Janis (PBS).
About 300 members of the GRS main election machinery attended the briefing, pledging their full support to the coalition’s candidate in defending the Kuamut seat.
