KIULU: The dominance of local parties in Sabah’s governance has been realised through Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), said its information chief Datuk Joniston Bangkuai.

He said GRS, comprising local-based parties, remains the best platform to lead and unite Sabah while safeguarding state rights and interests.

Joniston noted that Pakatan Harapan’s decision to back Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor reflected recognition of Sabahans’ desire for local leadership contrasting with Warisan and PKDM’s attempt to return Umno to power during the failed 2023 “Langkah Kinabalu” move.

He added that GRS values respectful cooperation among its components, focusing on people’s welfare and rural development.

During the event, Joniston presented ICT equipment to four Catholic churches, noting that RM70 million has been allocated this year and RM90 million next year for mission schools, Chinese private schools, and non-Muslim religious bodies.
