KIULU: The withdrawal of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) and Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) should not weaken the coalition’s fight to reclaim Sabah’s rights, said Kiulu assemblyman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai.

Joniston, who is also GRS and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Information Chief, said both parties still share the same ideals that formed GRS and hoped they would continue to support efforts to defend Sabah’s rights despite being outside the coalition.

He reminded that PBS’s past governance taught the importance of cooperation in safeguarding Sabah’s rights.

He stressed that collaboration with the Federal Government should be seen as a strategic partnership to achieve meaningful results for the state, rather than bowing to Putrajaya.
