Kota Kinabalu: Although there is no reason to call state elections early Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Youth are ready, said it’s Chief Datuk Jonnybone Kurum.
The PBS Assemblyman said wings from all eight component parties are united in ensuring GRS continues to govern and develop Sabah.

“How we have bickered amongst ourselves before GRS was established, never reaching our full power while letting outside forces dictate Sabah.

“What’s the use of being in a coalition if we don’t share the same struggles,” he told over 2,000 delegates at the launching of the GRS Youth Movement at SICC, Sunday.

Jonnybone requested that more youths be given the chance to raise the socio-economy especially at district level.

“Currently, we are facing extreme political challenges from the opposition who have launched a smear campaign using social media to its full extent.
“They have resorted to personal attacks involving the social lives and morality of GRS members. However, we put our full trust on authorities to conduct a thorough investigation.
“As Telupid Assemblyman, I am also a victim. A government letterhead for a get together involving a youth association was forged to claim that it was to lobby for a project just because my brother’s name was on it.
“The point of the event was to gather village folk, especially the youth, in developing the state constituency. This comes to show that even doing good can get you in trouble.
“GRS has been doing a good job and with a clear development plan (Sabah Maju Jaya), has attracted many foreign direct investments, increasing state revenue and creating jobs.
“We as GRS youth wings should be more talkative about what the government has done and its concern for the people especially through the State’s largest budget that we tabled,” he said.
Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah Youth Chief Datuk Fairuz Renddan said GRS youths can stop looking at themselves as individuals but a single unit under the GRS family.
“Now we are under fire by the opposition. Do we remain mute? They youth’s voice is supposed to be bold. Don’t just look your party’s president.
“If any of our family members gets bashed don’t stand and wait. We have been the target of attack since four years ago, but most of all we want the opposition who are also Sabahans to be part of GRS.
“Young and old, we need to uphold the unity of Sabahans and remember that the youth are holding the most votes in the coming elections. Therefore we must become the mould and role model to others,” he said.
PBS Youth Chief, Dr Christopher Mandut said the main purpose was to send the message that the GRS youth troops are ready to claim victory at the warzone.
“If any GRS component party gets attacked, we youth should all share the same pain and be quick to defend and counter.
“I say to the opposition responsible for the smear campaigns, PBS cannot wait to fight you like a man during the state elections where we will see to whom the people’s mandate goes to. We are ready even if the State Elections are to be held tomorrow,” he said.
