At long last, more than two and a half years after Rockstar Games unveiled the first Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer, it’s almost time for Lucia and Jason to tear through the streets of Vice City in the latest instalment of the game.
Developer Rockstar Games has announced that pre-orders for the long-awaited game will finally go live on Thursday at midnight. With millions expected to rush to secure a copy, UK retailers are no doubt preparing for one of the biggest gaming launches in history.
With Rockstar having confirmed today the various editions of the game, plus the pricing in the US, we’ll be bringing you all the latest news, rumours and updates as we count down to the launch tonight, including retailer listings, pricing leaks and speculation over when the third GTA 6 trailer could finally drop.

14:00 , Alex LeeAnyone who pre-orders GTA 6 digitally through the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store will receive a free month of GTA+.
The free month of GTA+ comes with a monthly GTA$500,000 in-game cash deposit for GTA Online, bonus rewards on Shark Card purchases, access to exclusive discounts and vehicles, plus a rotating selection of Rockstar games.
You’ll be able to redeem the free month immediately after pre-ordering, though Rockstar says a GTA+ membership will automatically renew at the standard monthly rate unless cancelled.
What do GTA 6 pre-order bonuses include?

The Vintage Vice City Pack will be included with all digital purchases made before 20 November 2026. Anyone who pre-orders a physical edition will get the content included, while supplies last. Like the Ultimate Edition bonuses, you’ll get the bonuses as you progress through the story.

Rockstar says the bonuses will unlock progressively as players advance through the story, and Standard Edition owners will be able to purchase the Ultimate Edition upgrade at a later date.
Rockstar Games confirms GTA 6 price
12:07 , Alex LeeRockstar Games will be releasing two versions of GTA 6 – a standard edition and an Ultimate Edition – and it seems fans may have been worrying themselves silly about the price for no reason.
The developer has confirmed that the standard edition will cost $79.99, while the pricier GTA 6 Ultimate Edition will retail for $99.99. UK pricing has not yet been revealed.
Some analysts had predicted that GTA 6 could cost $150, which now seems wide off the mark.
What time can you pre-order GTA 6 in the UK?
11:58 , Alex LeeIt’s official. GTA 6 pre-orders will go live at midnight tonight. Rockstar has confirmed that the game will become available simultaneously at midnight in each local time zone, meaning players in New Zealand will be the first to gain access to pre-orders.

We also saw new clips of Leonida, including the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers and Port Gellhorn. GTA 6’s huge cast of side characters was also revealed, with Rockstar fleshing out the game's criminal underworld.
GTA 6's first trailer launched in 2023

The first GTA 6 trailer, released in December 2023, introduced us all to our first protagonist – Lucia and confirmed that we would indeed be heading back to Vice City.
It gave us our first glimpse at Leonida and showcased a wild Florida-inspired world, complete with TikTok-style vertical clips, alligators and crazy beach parties.
What could come in the GTA 6 collector's edition and how much could it cost?

At launch, the GTA 5 collector’s edition cost £119.99 in the UK. This was in 2013, when games were a lot cheaper – I wouldn’t be surprised to see it start from at least £150.
As to what it could ship with? The GTA 5 collector’s edition launched with a steelbook, a blueprint map of Los Santos, a snapback cap and exclusive vehicles. Personally? I’d love a life size version of that pink flamingo.
How GTA 6's release timeline has changed

The launch of GTA 6 has been an absolute saga. Rumours of a delay first emerged in early 2024, with reports suggesting the studio was falling behind schedule. Despite repeated assurances from Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick that the game would be worth the wait, GTA 6 has slipped twice, first to May 2026 and then again to its current 19 November release date.
In February 2024, Rockstar mandated a full return to the office for its staff. While the company cited quality and security as reasons, sources told Kotaku it was also driven by mounting pressure to stay on schedule for GTA 6.
At the time, Kotaku reported that while early 2025 had once been possible, the studio was now aiming for an Autumn 2025 launch – a sentiment echoed by Zelnick during earnings calls throughout the year. In December 2024, Zelnick teased the game as “extraordinary and worth waiting for,” adding that it would be “breathtaking.”
That timeline was finally upended when Rockstar officially confirmed a delay, setting a new release date of 26 May 2026. But of course that release date didn’t stick either.
On 6 November 2025, Rockstar punted the game’s release a full year into the future. Finally landing on a release date of 19 November. The news came amid accusations of union-busting, when Rockstar controversially fired 31 workers the studio claims had shared confidential information.
Will GTA 6 come to Nintendo Switch 2?
Monday 22 June 2026 19:30 , Alex LeeRockstar hasn’t said anything specific about whether GTA 6 will be available on the Nintendo Switch 2, but Zelnick has previously said the Switch’s audience has broadened and that “we actually would fully expect to support Switch [2]”. This was stated before the Switch 2 had launched, and was in regards to Take-Two supporting it more generally, however, rather than for GTA 6 direct. If it does come to the Switch 2, it’ll almost certainly be well after the main launch.
Will GTA 6 be cross-play compatible?
Monday 22 June 2026 17:33 , Alex LeeWhile GTA 6 is officially coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S this Thursday, Rockstar has not yet confirmed whether cross-play will be implemented. Cross-play essentially means Xbox gamers will be able to play online with PS5 players and vice versa.
A PC release hasn’t been confirmed, and there’s no mention yet of a version for PS4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch 2. A PC version will likely come later, based on Rockstar’s usual release pattern.
Who are the main characters in GTA 6?
Monday 22 June 2026 17:03 , Alex LeeThe two main protagonists are Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Jason is a former soldier working for local drug runners in the Keys, while Lucia has just been released from Leonida Penitentiary and is looking for a way to turn her life around.
Cal Hampton is Jason’s friend and an associate of Brian Heder. He is described as living “at the low tide of America” and spends his time listening to Coast Guard communications while drinking at home. Brian Heder is a veteran drug smuggler from the Keys. He runs a boat yard with his third wife, Lori, and is allowing Jason to live rent-free at one of his properties in exchange for help with local shakedowns.
Boobie Ike is described as a Vice City legend who owns a strip club, recording studio and property portfolio, while Dre’Quan Priest is said to be an aspiring music mogul who runs Only Raw Records and is focused on building his label’s reputation in the local music scene.
Real Dimez is a rap duo made up of Bae-Luxe and Roxy. They are described as using their time shaking down dealers to fund their music careers and grow their social media following. They are signed to Only Raw Records. Raul Bautista is described as a seasoned bank robber who is always on the hunt for new talent.

GTA 6 map vs GTA 5
Monday 22 June 2026 16:03 , Alex LeeLeonida is Rockstar's fictional take on Florida, with Vice City at the centre, returning as the main location. But while Vice City is the main location, GTA 6 is much bigger than a city map. The state of Leonida looks vast, with plenty to explore outside the city.
The game includes locations like the Leonida Keys – a tropical island chain – and Grassrivers, a sprawling swamp region. There's Port Gellhorn, a faded coastal town with run-down shops and motels, and Ambrosia, which is dominated by a sugar refinery and a biker gang. Then there’s Mount Kalaga, a mountainous rural area in the north.
Compared to GTA 5's Los Santos and Blaine County, GTA 6 looks several times larger and more diverse. There is even speculation that the inclusion of Mount Kalaga and references to Gloriana (a possible stand-in for neighbouring Georgia) could mean the game expands beyond Leonida itself.
When will the GTA 6 trailer 3 drop?
Monday 22 June 2026 15:33 , Alex LeeWhen Rockstar dropped the GTA 6 pre-order date last week, the games developer also dropped a teaser. Except it wasn’t the trailer fans were all hoping for. It was a 30-second reveal of the cover art.
More than a year on from the release of trailer 2, a third trailer is nowhere to be seen. But with pre-order day looming, we’re all expecting Rockstar to release fresh footage to coincide with the launch.
Nothing has been confirmed by Rockstar, of course, but with GTA 6 launching on 19 November, there's still plenty of time for Lucia and Jason to make another appearance.
What's with all the fuss over the GTA 6 price?

Before the Portuguese retailer’s listings leaked, insiders suggested the game could cost up to $150 (£120) due to its reported $1bn to $2bn budget. After all, Rockstar would need to recoup the costs somehow.
To me, that seems unlikely. Although the prices of games are rising, with Nintendo notoriously selling Mario Kart World for £75 at launch and Microsoft bumping up the prices of Xbox games, will Take-Two really sell GTA 6 above the £100 mark? We’ll just have to wait and see.
How much could GTA 6 cost?
Monday 22 June 2026 15:04 , Alex LeeOver the weekend, a Portuguese retailer Fnac listed five different editions of GTA 6 online. The cheapest edition of the game was listed at €89.99 (£78), but there were also listings for €99.99 (£87), €109.99 (£95), €119.99 (£104) and €199.99 (£173).
Fans have been speculating that the listing for £78 will be the standard edition, while the priciest might be a collector's edition.
However, reputable insider billbil-kun has since poured cold water onto those prices, claiming the European Article Number (EAN) codes don't match Take-Two's usual products. With pre-orders opening on Thursday, we shouldn't have long to wait to find out whether any of these figures are close to the real thing.

This week, Rockstar Games will finally open GTA 6 pre-orders, and to say fans can't wait would be an understatement.
Pre-orders will go live on 25 June on all the major digital storefronts and third-party retailers, though it’s unclear whether there will be any special editions, or what pre-order bonuses will be available.
While Rockstar Games hasn’t announced exactly what time pre-orders will open, I’ve got two hunches – at midnight, or sometime in the afternoon. The cover art and pre-order date was announced at 2pm BST last week, and Rockstar’s pre-orders for Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC went live at 4pm BST.
