Manchester City are UEFA Super Cup winners after defeating Sevilla on penalties in Athens.
Cole Palmer canceled out Sevilla's established by Youssef En-Nesyri before the game was taken to spotkicks. After the first nine penalties were converted Sevilla defender Nemanja Gudelj drilled his kick against the crossbar to give City victory.
City manager Pep Guardiola later said: "Ederson saved us a couple of times. Last week (against Arsenal) we lost on penalties, but this time we won. It wasn't easy in a final like this for Cole Palmer, but he did superbly.
"Perhaps En-Nesyri's finish wasn't perfect but those were the worst moments, when Ocampos came close too. But Ederson saved us. After the first minutes in the second half we found our passing, we controlled the game more. Towards the end we scored, and in the closing minutes we felt that the team who might score was us. If Sevilla had scored a second perhaps it would have been impossible for us.
"Sevilla have exceptional players, a great keeper, international full-backs. liver Torres has the quality to connect with the forwards, they are dangerous up front.
"In the past, I've sometimes had a feeling about lack of motivation when the squad wins trophies a lot. But today, I didn't have that feeling. We are really pleased to have a trophy already. We missed one which could have let us do the full circle the next one comes when we go [for the FIFA Club World Cup]."
