Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said responsibility towards Muslim converts should not end after they recite the syahadah but must continue through guidance, care and sustained support.
He said converts should continue to receive religious education, spiritual guidance, welfare assistance, economic development opportunities, skills training and social support to help them live confidently and steadfastly as Muslims.
Hajiji said this at the closing and prize-giving ceremony of the national-level Ijtima' Amal Islami Mualaf Madani (IJMAM) 2026 at the Sabah State Legislative Assembly's Bangkuasi Hall here Friday night.
He said IJMAM was not merely a competition or gathering but a platform to strengthen Islamic understanding, discover talent, build confidence and identity, and foster closer ties among converts from throughout Malaysia.
Hajiji said the State Government would continue supporting efforts to empower communities, including Muslim converts, so they have opportunities to progress, become self-reliant and contribute to the development of Sabah and the country.
