Gurugram Police have busted an online gaming and cyber fraud gang by arresting four of its members. The police recovered 15 mobile phones, two laptops, 15 ATM cards, 12 SIM cards, 11 cheque books/passbooks, seven payment boxes and a Wi-Fi router from their possession.

According to the police, a cyber-police team led by ACP Cyber Gaurav Phogat conducted a raid using technical surveillance at flat number Z-16 at Signature Global Society in Sector 37D.

The accused were identified as Aditya, resident of village Karidharini, District Charkhi Dadri (Haryana), Kapil, resident of village Faizlipur, District Mahendragarh (Haryana), Sunny Chahar, resident of village Gehri Khurd, Block Akola, District Agra (Uttar Pradesh), and Suraj Rajput, resident of Shanti Nagar, Mal Godam Road, Mathura (Uttar Pradesh).

A case has been registered against the accused at Cyber Police Station South under relevant sections of the BNS and the Haryana Prevention of Gambling Act. During the raid, the police team found the four accused inside the flat working on laptops and mobile phones.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that at the instructions of another individual, accused Aditya along with his associates was operating through bookie IDs on the online gaming panel ‘reddyanna888.’ Advertisements were run to attract customers for online gaming. Interested users would create IDs on the gaming website and make payments through QR codes provided on the site. The accused received money from online gamers via QR codes and added points/coins to their gaming IDs. They reportedly earned around a 20 percent commission from the received amounts,” said ACP Phogat.

It was also revealed that bank account kits, SIM cards and QR codes were provided to them via WhatsApp by another person. These were used to conduct online gaming activities, financial transactions and cyber fraud operations. The accused are being questioned regarding other accomplices and financial transactions, he added.
