The Special Task Force (STF), Gurugram, arrested a man in Bhiwani and recovered 8.94 kg heroin from his possession. The recovered drug is estimated to be worth Rs 36 crore in the international market.

According to the STF, the accused was identified as Rohit, a resident of Indira Colony, Bhiwani. Acting on a tip-off, a team of STF led by sub-inspector Vivek Sharma reached Bhiwani on Friday and conducted a raid along with Bhiwani police in the presence of the duty magistrate.

During the search at the accused Rohit’s home, the narcotics were recovered from a cupboard. Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused had brought the drugs from Punjab for supply in Haryana.

“During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that this accused was involved in this work for some time and this is the first case registered against him. Earlier, the brother of the accused was also found involved in drug smuggling, against whom a case is registered in Punjab and he has been declared a fugitive by the court. This is the second big consignment of drugs recovered by the STF in Haryana. Earlier, the STF had recovered 12 kg of heroin. The accused is a native of Piranwali village in Hisar, where a large number of people are involved in the drug trade. The accused will be questioned in detail in this matter,” said Preetpal Singh Sangwan, DSP of STF, Gurugram.
