
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s gymnasts won two silvers and six bronzes at the National Artistic Gymnastic Championship that concluded in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
The senior athletes won one silver in the team event and four individual bronzes from Ammanda Wong Yeah Chean (uneven bar, individual overall), Cherfie Resie Chong (vault) and Nicole Wong Li Jing (individual overall), while the juniors delivered the other silver in the team event and the two bronzes through Jaymee Jordan James (individual overall) and Bernadith Norbert (individual overall).
Sabah were represented by a 10-member all girls team with Marilyn Buseong as manager cum junior coach together with Zamri Din.
Senior coach Liew Tong Ee said the competition was part of their preparation for the Malaysian Games (Sukma) in Sarawak next year.

He added that the final squad will only be known after the third phase selection trial to be held in December.
He also expressed his gratitude to Sabah Sports Council, Sabah Sports Board, Sabah Gymnastic Association and the parents for their support.
