
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s artistic gymnasts captured four golds, eight silvers and 34 bronzes at the National Gymnastics Artistic Championship 2024 held at Gym 3, Bukit Jalil from June 27-30.
The golds were contributed by Marvell Vincent Voo in the junior pommel horse and horizontal bar, and the other two from the men’s senior and team events.
Brandon Denoley Louise competing in the men senior category delivered six individual silvers in the individual overall, floor exercise, pommel horse, vault, parallel bar and horizontal bar while the other two from the men’s senior and junior teams.
The bronze medallists were Vellmary Bell Rickely (women pre-junior vault and individual overall), Bernadith Nobert (women junior - vault and individual overall), Jaymee Jordan James (women junior - individual overall), Ammanda Wong Yeah Chean (women senior - individual overall), Marvell Vicent Voo (women senior - individual overall, floor exercise and rings), Addison Chang Sui Xin (women senior - individual overall, floor exercise, vault and parallel bar), Brandon Denoley Luise (men senior - rings), Mohd Zaer Zabidi B Harman (men senior - individual overall, floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bar, horizontal bar), Tyler Jordan Lajanty (men senior - individual overall, floor exercise, vault, parallel bar and horizontal bar), Charlie Richie Chong (men senior - individual overall, pommel horse and horizontal bar), Abd Izzat Daniel Abd Rauf (men senior - floor exercise and vault) and Liew Jun Xiang (men senior - pommel horse, rings and parallel bar).

The 30-member team was led by manager Marilyn Buseong with coaches Azri Omar, Noraini Jamlan, Zamri Bin Din, Abd Izzat Daniel Abd Rau headed by Liew Tong Ee who was also one of the judges with Winson Siau.
Liew added that Fayleanne Clarence Ongkudin who was upgraded to level five during the championship has been included in the State Sukma squad.
He also expressed his thanks to Sabah Sports Council, Sabah Sports Board, Sabah Gymnastic Association and the parents for their support.
