Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has agreed that the 2026 State-level Sabah Farmers, Livestock Breeders and Fishermen’s Day (HPPNS) celebration should be held in the districts instead of being confined to Kota Kinabalu.
He conveyed this during a courtesy call from the HPPNS 2026 main committee led by Assistant Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister Datuk Ruslan Muharam at Menara Kinabalu on Monday.
The HPPNS 2026 celebration, which Hajiji has been invited to officiate, is scheduled to take place in Tenom from Oct 23 to 25 with the official opening on Oct 24, expecting to attract about 20,000 visitors.
Ruslan said bringing the celebration to the districts provides opportunities for local traders while making it easier for farmers, livestock breeders, and fishermen to showcase and sell their produce.
He added that hosting the event in Tenom paves the way for HPPNS to rotate among other districts in the future, stimulating regional economic activity while giving formal recognition to successful agricultural entrepreneurs.
