KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s rich flora, fauna, and cultural diversity should inspire local writers to produce high-quality literary works, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

He said the state government continues to support Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) and local authors in promoting literature and reading culture.

Sabah’s unique heritage, he added, must be preserved and documented through books, discussions, and seminars before it fades into history.

Hajiji, whose speech was delivered by Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif, urged DBP to remain committed to publishing quality works across disciplines.

He also encouraged libraries, government departments, and the private sector to acquire newly launched titles as a show of recognition for local writers.

A total of 24 new books were launched at the event.
