Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that the implementation of the new period has already begun by involving the cooperation of various parties such as the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) and various parties including the private sector.

In his Facebook post, he said that the 2025 Budget, which also provides 100 new auditors for halal certification coincides with efforts to speed up the approval process for halal certificate applications.

“JAKIM has collaborated with 5 higher education institutions to employ the halal auditors who will also be officials who determine halal standards. They are placed in companies that already have halal certificates.”

He said the data on halal certificate applications at the domestic level shows an increase in halal certificate applications every year.

“In 2023 we received 15,605 applications, increasing from 14,977 in the previous year and until September 2024 a total of 14,707 applications have been received.”

Zahid believes that this figure will reach more than 16,000, especially with the reduced days to obtain a Halal certificate.
