The Hamburg half-marathon on Sunday has been postponed due to the heat.
"It is probably the hardest decision we have ever had to make in the history of the event," organizers said in a statement on Wednesday.
Around 24,000 runners were expected, but temperatures have been soaring and it has been deemed unsafe.
The race could be rearranged at some point during the remainder of the year.
