Lewis Hamilton topped the second practice as Ferrari dominated the first day of action at the Formula One Monaco Grand Prix on Friday.
The seven-time world champion clocked the fastest time of 1 minute 13.026 seconds to beat team-mate Charles Leclerc by 0.111 seconds.
Earlier, Leclerc had kicked-off his home race weekend in the best way possible and topped the first practice.
Max Verstappen of Red Bull was third in both sessions.
Championship leader Kimi Antonelli was fifth in second practice behind Mercedes team-mate George Russell.
Defending champion Lando Norris didn't have a good start to the weekend. Following a sixth place in first practice, he had technical issues in the late session as his car stopped on track. He was forced to abandon practice and finished with the 19th fastest time.
McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri improved from eighth in the first session to seventh.
Isack Hadjar was sixth after he crashed his Red Bull into a wall in the early session.
Mercedes have dominated the season so far, with Antonelli winning the last four races after George Russell won the season opener in Australia.
Antonelli tops the drivers' standings with 131 points, 43 ahead of Russell.
The Monaco race marks the first one in Europe this season. Overtaking on the legendary but narrow street circuit is almost impossible these days, but chances could be a little higher this time after rule changes for the season.
Securing pole position, however, is still crucial for a victory in the Principality.
Saturday's schedule includes the last practice session ahead of qualifying for Sunday's showdown.
