THE Leader of the Opposition in the Dewan Rakyat, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, will lead Parti Keluarga Malaysia to continue his political struggles after being sacked by Bersatu last month.
This was confirmed by the Founder of Parti Keluarga Malaysia, Khairi Jaya, who said efforts to pave the way for the Opposition Leader to lead the party are almost certain.
"Discussions have been held twice with Datuk Seri Hamzah and other members of Parliament (who were fired by Bersatu), including the Member of Parliament for Tasek Gelugor, Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan.
"The latest discussion was last week on Thursday, and it can be said that it is 90 per cent certain that Hamzah will take over the party,” he told Berita Harian.
Hamzah was sacked from Bersatu on February 13 based on the decision of the Disciplinary Board in line with Clause 22.5 of the party constitution.
Also sacked were three other MPs, namely Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal (Machang), Fathul Huzir Ayob (Gerik) and Azahari Hasan (Padang Rengas).
Another MP in Hamzah's camp, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullan (Indera Mahkota), had been sacked earlier.
Meanwhile, Khairi said that the process after this involves the consent of all parties and issues related to the appointment of positions.
He said that there will be an election process later to determine the position of the Larut MP as the President of the party concerned.
"Right now, everything is 'on track'. There will be an election to appoint Datuk Seri Hamzah as President, and we are drafting the party constitution to enable that to be realised," he said.
Previously, several negotiations were held to determine Hamzah's new home, including with the Berjasa party.
Berjasa has participated in several General Elections (GE) since its establishment in 1977, but its electoral achievements are more concentrated in the early era of the party's establishment.
In the late 1970s, particularly in the 1978 General Election, Berjasa contested several Parliamentary and State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats, especially in Kelantan. – March 3, 2026
